Rick Spurgin, born and raised in the Midwest, has taken his talents to both coasts. His love for music started at a young age. He began actively performing as a high school student.
While attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts Rick entertained professionally around New England. He performed at local hot spots, on television shows and also worked as a studio musician.
His talents then took him across the United States to perform for the N.F.L. Super Bowl XXII reception in San Diego and then to Las Vegas where he entertained with his group at major hotels and casinos for eight years.
Rick performed in Canada as well, but has spent the past twelve years entertaining audiences in the Midwest. He has been performing with his group in clubs, riverboat casinos and has been the opening act for Senator Hillary Clinton in her Presidential Champaign 2008. With his band “Out of the Fire” he has also opened for such bands as the Doobie Brothers and the Byrds.
Rick is currently active with his band “Out of the Fire” and as a solo performer, songwriter and recording artist.
Rick has been a guitar instructor at Dietze Music Omaha since 2004. As a family man and father of six children, Rick is very patient and understands the importance of education and family. He has a large dedicated group of individual students as well as group lessons with the Guitar Discovery program. Rick’s lessons are both fun and challenging.
